MASTER CLASS DESCRIPTION/DETAIL (in alphabetical order)

ANIMAL BEHAVIOR & MANAGEMENT – PART #1
by Pam Lauritzen

Dogs are from Pluto – People are from Earth – 1 ½ hour presentation

Animals hear, see, smell, perceive, react and learn distinctively different from humans. Canine personality types, basic reflexive behaviors, territorial boundaries, the laws of learning, the senses, social development, and environmental influences upon animal behavior are the focus of this comprehensive program directed towards a better understanding of canine behavior and their reactions to the stress and activities associated with a pet styling environment. If you would like to learn how to reduce the stress associated with handling uncooperative pets and how to promote and nurture “good dog behaviors” - then this seminar is a must! Animal Behavior & Management, part 1 is recommended prior to attending part 2 of this series.

ANIMAL BEHAVIOR & MANAGEMENT – Part #2
By Pam Lauritzen

Note: Animal Behavior & Management, part 1 is essential for a full understanding of this program. (This is a part of Pam Lauritzen’s Canine Management Program)

Conditioning techniques, therapy programs designed for rehabilitation of problem behaviors, how to “talk to the animals”, fear biting and rage syndrome, phobic behaviors, client consultations and much more are featured during the second part of this outstanding presentation on animal behavior and management. If you would like to learn how to manage dogs that jerk their feet during trimming, scream when clipping nails, cleaning ears or being handled, shake uncontrollably, transform (before your very eyes) from Dr. Jeckel to “Mr. Hyde” when placed in a cage, defecate or urinate when stressed, hug & cling to the table, bite unpredictably, bark incessantly, and/or are prone to hyper excitability – then this seminar needs to be at the top of your “must attend” list!

ART OF STYLING SPORTING BREEDS
by Pam Lauritzen

Is there really a difference between the trim on an American Cocker, English Cocker and Springer Spaniel? Are the English, Irish and Gordon Setters all trimmed the same? How do you trim the Curly-coated Retriever and the Irish Water Spaniel? Does the Clumber Spaniel really require NO trimming? Don’t miss this outstanding seminar that deals with a comparative analysis of sporting breed profiles …plus trimming techniques, tools and methods required for styling sporting breeds. This is a very comprehensive seminar with a couple of different sporting dogs there for demonstration purposes only.

“TO SPA or NOT TO SPA” – THAT IS THE QUESTION!
by Derrik Kassebaum

Within the last few years, it seems that everything you buy is all about pampering yourself through SPA treatments. So then thinking about the way we pamper ourselves, isn't about time that we begin to pamper those lovely creatures our customers are now calling "their kids". Customers pay whatever it takes to keep those little darlings healthy and feeling good. In 2004, US sales hit an all time high of $165,000,000 for pet grooming products. But are we keeping up with what our customers are requesting for their pets. The opportunity for you to begin to offer SPA treatments for your customers is NOW. Pet owners want to take better care of their special little ones. Are you offering SPA services that will help the customer pamper the pet while increasing your profit at the same time? Come prepared to ask many questions. Derrik loves an open forum and will be more than happy to offer advice from the conversations with other groomers.
