INTERGROOM 2008 Dear Intergroom Competitor, We have made some changes to our procedures in providing contest dogs in order to get you the best dogs possible. The most significant change is that we have had to raise the fee our contest dog providers receive. They have told me over and over that the money they are paid is just not worth the work involved in keeping their dogs in contest hair for Intergroom, especially hand-stripped breeds, standard poodles, and American cockers. Therefore, as of the 2006 show, you will need to pay our providers $250 each for standard poodles, hand-strips, and American cockers, and $200 each for all other breeds, including mixed breeds. As part of this price increase, I have informed providers that we will be expecting dogs in superb condition and meeting all Intergroom Rules for the class intended. I think you will agree that it is hard for me to ask an owner to keep a Scottie in rolling coat all year long so that she can travel 2 hours to Intergroom and get paid $100. We will also no longer pay for dogs that can not be used or arrive in poor condition. We may also offer providers a bonus (paid by Intergroom) for dogs that place in the classes. I am hoping that this will further motivate providers to bring the best dogs they can. This was actually proposed by one of our providers. Also, when I contacted providers this spring and proposed the new system and prices, they were very appreciative, but many specifically requested that you must reserve your dogs as early as possible, no later than than March 15th and some even earlier. Therefore, I have added a new column to the dog list called "PROVIDER REQUIREMENTS". I urge you to review the available dogs list and to reserve your dogs as soon as possible. I work very hard to make sure everyone has a dog available that it is in superb condition, but there is always room for improvement; I hope that this new approach will make both the contest dog providers and the grooming contest competitor happy...
