INTERGROOM’S
“INTERNATIONAL GROOMER OF THE YEAR” CONTEST
We continue with
our contest structure this year with combining the International and American
groomers into The same classes and four placements to each of these classes.
Our point selection
of the Best American Groomer and Best International Groomer tabulated by our
contest coordinator, Susan Pratt, will be our yearly standard.
We also continued
with the awarding of the Rising Star of the Year at mid-day on Sunday.
This gave us plenty of time to acknowledge the winner properly before
proceeding with the afternoon of competitions.
We have decided this is the perfect timing for the completion of the
Rising Star Competition each year. Since
it is the only competition of its kind being offered anywhere ( no “A” or
“B” Divisions – just an entire competition for the novice or intermediate
competition groomer), we are so pleased with the growing number of young
groomers it attracts.
The 6 Gold Medal
Winners in the International Groomer of the Year were again highlighted at the Sunday Evening Gala Banquet.
Here, our Best in Show Judge, Umberto Lehmann selected the winner, Julie
Ostoski, from Satellite Beach, Florida, USA.
This was an
incredible year at INTERGROOM. There
were 57 dogs entered in then RISING STAR COMPETITION & 90 dogs in the
GROOMER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION. There
were 35 individual groomers in Rising Star and 40 in Groomer of the Year.
The WATCHUNG MOUNTAIN POODLE CLUB had their AKC POODLE SPECIALTY on site
on MONDAY at INTERGROOM this year. They
had 63 entries in their conformation classes plus they held obedience trials as
well. It truly was a POODLE WEEKEND with 31 poodles entered in the
Groomer of the Year Competition plus 27 in the Rising Star of the Year!!!!
With well over 2,000 groomers, breeders, etc. in attendance, it was a
very busy weekend for all.
